Star anise

Star anise (lat. Illicium) – we also know it under such names as Chinese anise, ship anise, star anise. Why anise? Because the fruits of anise star resemble anise in smell, only with a stronger aroma. Star anise is an evergreen tree that grows up to 4 meters tall, the birthplace of star anise is East and Southeast Asia, North America.
