For an easy fava recipe, rinse the beans, cover with water and set aside overnight to swell. The next day, drain the water, peel the onion, chop and add to the pan with the beans. Pour oil into a saucepan with beans, salt, add sugar, pour in water to cover the beans, and put on medium heat. Cook beans covered until soft.
Puree boiled beans with onions while it is hot, using a blender, until sour cream. Transfer the bean puree to a serving dish, spread evenly and allow to set well until firm.
When the beans are completely hardened, they must be transferred to the prepared dish, turning the plate over. Garnish fava with finely chopped herbs and lemons before serving.
