Pickled Plums Recipe

Pickled plums – a recipe for Ukrainian cuisine, pickled plums are a very good appetizer, somewhat reminiscent of olives. It is best to take hard plums for pickling, otherwise after pickling the plums will turn into porridge. The plum marinade is also very tasty, slightly viscous, with a slight aftertaste and aroma of spices.

For a recipe for Ukrainian cuisine pickled plums, it is better to take "ugorka" plums.

Rinse and sterilize liter or half liter jars for pickled plums.

Wash the plums, let the water drain, prick in several places with a fork or toothpick and place in prepared jars.

Place the plums in jars until the neck narrows and pour boiling water over them, cover and set aside for 15 minutes.

After draining the liquid from the drain into a saucepan, add sugar, vinegar, salt and boil.

Put 1 bay leaf, 1 clove, 3-4 black peppercorns and 1-2 allspice peas in each jar.

Pour the prepared jars with plums with boiling marinade, cover with tin lids and seal.

Turn jars of pickled plums, cover with a thick blanket or towel and leave to cool for about a day. Store pickled plums in a cool, dark place.
