Mackerel fried with spices (Saba tatsuta-age) – a Japanese recipe, mackerel pieces are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Saba tatsuba-age is served with chilled light beer.

Recipe Ingredients

Mackerel 2 pcs
Soy Sauce 4 tbsp
Sake 4 tbsp
Garlic 1 clove
Ginger 2 tbsp
Basil 2-3 leaves
Lemon 1 pcs

Cooking Recipe

For the recipe mackerel fried with spices remove all the bones from the mackerel fillet with tweezers, first cut in half lengthwise, and then obliquely into small pieces.

For the marinade, combine soy sauce, sake, icing sugar, crushed garlic, finely chopped basil leaves and grated ginger. Put fish pieces in the prepared marinade and set aside for 20 minutes.

After the time has elapsed, remove the fish from the marinade, pat dry with paper towels and roll in cornmeal. Pour a large amount of oil into a deep frying pan and heat.
