Tzimmes – a Jewish cuisine recipe, cooked for the Jewish New Year Rosh Hashanah. There are several types of tsimes, it can be sweet, it can be from vegetables, and maybe with the addition of chicken. Raisins must be put in sweet tsimes. In vegetable tsimes, potatoes or cauliflower can be added to carrots. And if tsimes with the addition of chicken or meatballs, then the butter must be replaced with the correct margarine or vegetable oil.

Recipe Ingredients

Carrots 250 g
Raisins 25-30 g
Prunes 5 pcs
Butter 15 g
Sugar 1-2 tsp
Bay Leaf 1 pcs
Salt 1 pinch

Cooking Recipe

To cook a tzimmes recipe, peel the carrots, cut them into small cubes and place in the pan. Add butter to the carrots and fry a little, until light golden brown.

You can also put the carrots in a saucepan in which they will be stewed or in a frying pan. Pour hot water over the carrots so that they lightly cover, cover and put on medium heat.

When the carrots are half cooked, add the raisins, prunes, salt, sugar and bay leaves. Stir, cover tzimmes and simmer until the carrots are cooked through. Tzimmes is ready.
