Sardine Salad – a Spanish cuisine recipe, such a salad is prepared on the last day of the spring carnival. One of the most colorful and ancient traditions of the carnival is the farewell to don Karnal at the funeral of the sardine. On this day, the "funeral of the sardine" is held and its effigy is burned.
Sardine Salad Ingredients

- Cucumbers 1-2 pcs
- Lemon 0,5 pcs
- Orange 0,5 pcs
- White wine vinegar 1 tbsp
- Olive oil 2 tbsp
- Caraway 1 pinch
Sardine Salad Recipe
For the Spanish sardine salad recipe, rinse the fillets, pat dry, season with salt, pepper and sprinkle with caraway seeds. Peel the hot pepper from the seeds and cut into thin slices. Connect the fish fillets in pairs, laying a slice of hot pepper in the middle.
Whisk the egg in a separate bowl. Dip the fillet in the egg and place in a baking dish. Vinegar mixed with olive oil and pour over the fillet with this mixture. Bake sardines in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
Put the cucumbers cut into thin circles on the prepared dish, put the finished and cooled sardine fillets on top. Arrange thin slices of lemon and orange on top of the sardines. Serve sardine salad chilled.
