Rice cakes (Mochi) – a Japanese cuisine recipe, originally mochi was prepared only from rice, after they began to be made with an filling of sweet en bean paste. If there is no rice flour, round-grain rice with a high starch content can be ground to a coffee grinder, and then sifted through a sieve.

Recipe Ingredients

Rice Flour 100 g
Sugar 1 tbsp

Water 200 ml

Cooking Recipe

For the mochi recipe, mix rice flour with sugar, and gradually pour in water, mix everything well. Put the resulting mixture in a double boiler or in a water bath and cook for 15-20 minutes.

Bean paste transfer to cling film, roll into a tourniquet, wrap in cling film and shape into an elongated rectangle. Then remove the film, and cut the pasta into five parts.

Sprinkle a cutting board with cornmeal, put the rice flour mixture on it and divide into five parts. It is not necessary to knead the brewed rice mass.

Form a cake from each part of the rice mass, put a piece of pasta in the center, connect the ends of the cake and form mochi into a ball. Mochi must be consumed the same day while they are soft. If they are left for a longer period, they will harden and begin to crack.
