Mulberry jam – Bulgarian cuisine recipe, so that the mulberry jam is not insipid, citric acid is added to it, but in Bulgaria, in addition, brandy is added to the mulberry jam. And to make mulberry jam even more fragrant, you can add aromatic herbs or grated orange or grapefruit zest to it.

Sugar 1 kg
Brandy 50 ml
Citric Acid 1 tsp
Orange 1 pcs

Cooking Recipe

To cook a Bulgarian cuisine reipe mulberry jam sort out the berries, wash and dry slightly. Ponytails can be trimmed or left with them.

Then sprinkle the mulberries with sugar, pour in the brandy and set aside for 5-6 hours. During this time, mulberry will let the juice out and the sugar will practically dissolve.

When the mulberry has started up the juice, put the jam on medium heat and bring to a boil, and then reduce the heat and cook for 30 minutes.

3-5 minutes before the end of cooking, add citric acid and grated zest of one orange to the mulberry jam. Transfer the finished mulberry jam into sterilized jars and seal.
