Melon jam – a recipe for Uzbek cuisine, for jam it is better to take solid, varieties of melons. Melon jam is very beautiful and very tasty, and the more fragrant the melon, the more aromatic the jam will be. This melon jam is very good to serve with pancakes or just for tea.

Recipe Ingredients

Melon 1 kg
Sugar 1.2 kg
Water 400 ml
Imereti Saffron 1 pinch

Cooking Recipe

For an Uzbek recipe for melon jam, cut a half-ripe melon in half, remove the seeds and cut the skin. For a melon jam recipe, you need 1 kg of peeled pulp.

Cut the melon pulp for jam into cubes or diamonds and put in boiling water for 2-5 minutes.

Remove pieces of melon from boiling water, cool, add half of sugar, stir and put in a cold place for 2-3 hours.

In a separate bowl, add the remaining sugar to the water and boil the jam syrup. Pour melon with hot syrup and leave for 8 hours. After the time has elapsed, collect the melon pieces with a slotted spoon, and boil the jam syrup. Pour the pieces of melon into the syrup and set aside again for 8 hours. So repeat three times.

Then cook melon jam until cooked and add saffron or a pinch of vanilla 5 minutes before finishing, or 0.5 tsp citric acid.

Transfer the finished melon jam to a glass dish, cover with lids or wax paper and put in the pantry for storage.
