Mafrum – Jewish cuisine recipe, we are used to serving meat and potatoes as a side dish, in the same recipe we can say two in one. Prepared minced meat is put into potatoes, then breaded, fried and stewed in tomato sauce.
Mafrum ingredients
- Potatoes 10 pcs
- Minced beef 250 g
- Parsley 0.5 bunch
- Onion 1 pcs
- White bread 1 slice
- Eggs 2 pcs
- Paprika 1 tbsp
- Tomato paste 2 tbsp
- Carrots 2 pcs
- Wheat flour 100 g
- Water 1 l
- Vegetable oil 5 tbsp
- Ground cinnamon 1 pinch
- Ground black pepper 0.5 tsp
- Salt 1 tsp
Mafrum recipe
To cook a Jewish cuisine recipe mafrum, grind the beef or lamb in a meat mincer, grate the onion and mix with the minced meat. Add 1 egg, salt, pepper, cinnamon and bread soaked in water. Knead everything thoroughly. Make a deep cut in the peeled potatoes and add the minced meat. Roll the stuffed potatoes in flour, then in an egg.
Fry the prepared potatoes in oil on all sides. Peel and cut the carrots into circles. Put carrots on the bottom of the pan and pour tomato paste diluted in water. Place the fried potatoes in a saucepan with tomato sauce, add salt and simmer, covered with a lid for 1-1.5 hours. Serve mafrum warm with herbs.
