Knysh Transcarpathian Recipe
The Transcarpathian knysh recipe is very simple. Mix flour and sift. Boil water, salt and gradually, adding flour, stir with a whisk until the water and flour are completely combined. Cover with a lid and set aside to cool.
During this time, you can prepare the filling. Finely chop the greens, grate the garlic on a fine grater, grate the cheese on a coarse grater and mix everything. Salo cut into thin slices.
When the dough has cooled, knead it on a floured board. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces and shape into balls.
Roll out each ball of dough, put the cheese filling in the center, and put a slice of lard on top. Cover the filling with dough and form an envelope with a hole in the center.
Put the knysh on a baking sheet covered with baking paper, grease with vegetable oil and place in the oven. Bake knysh at 180 degrees for 30 minutes. Serve warm.
