Teriyaki is a traditional Japanese way of roasting using sweet sauce common in Japanese cuisine. The word teriyaki comes from the noun teri (照 り り), meaning brilliance, and yaki (焼 き き) - fried. The method of cooking consists in frying products in a sauce until caramelizing sugar in it, which gives the dish a luster. Teriyaki sauce is made from soy sauce with added sugar, sake and/or mirin. It is used with meat and fish dishes.
