Purple onion

Purple onion (lat. Allium atroviolaceum) – in nature, the species range covers Italy, central and southern regions of Eastern Europe, Western and Central Asia. It grows in dry places, rocks, in crops. This onion is very often used in cooking, as a preparation of various dishes, both sweet and not sweet. In addition, it is used as decoration for salads.
