Anise (lat. Pimpinella anisum) is an annual herb of the umbelliferous family. The height of the anise stem is not higher than 70 cm. The Mediterranean is considered the birthplace of anise. It is not known exactly when mankind learned what anise is, but scientists proved that they cultivated this wonderful culture already in the 1st century BC in ancient Greece, in Egypt, on the island of Crete.
